What is
The Essentials
The Miftaah High School Edition program is designed to cultivate a confident, spiritually grounded Muslim identity during the most formative years of a young Muslim’s life.
Grades 9 through 12 are critical years in which a young Muslim’s worldview, character, and sense of self are shaped by school, peers, social media, and ideas that may directly challenge a rooted Islamic identity. Without a strong foundation, this stage can lead to confusion, disconnection, or a gradual drift that may become more apparent in college.
This program responds to that reality by providing students with a structured, three-year journey. Students begin by learning how to seek knowledge, then develop a strong foundation in essential worship and belief, explore the Prophetic model and inner spiritual life, and ultimately develop the intellectual, ethical, and historical maturity needed to carry their Muslim identity confidently into college and adulthood.
Designed as the earlier stage of the same educational pipeline as the Miftaah College Edition, the program ensures that students do not enter college starting from zero. Instead, they arrive grounded in their faith, confident in their identity, and prepared to continue building upon what they have already learned.

Students entering a multi-year seminary track are rarely taught how to truly be students of sacred knowledge the intention behind seeking it, the etiquette it requires, and the discipline it demands. Without this foundation, even strong content can be received passively rather than deeply understood and internalized.
This opening course establishes the tone and expectations for the entire three-year journey before students begin more content-heavy subjects. It grounds students in the classical adab of seeking knowledge while introducing them to the greater objectives (Maqāṣid) of the Sharī‘ah.

Many Muslim high schoolers have been performing Ṣalāh and fasting Ramadan for years without ever having the rulings explained to them clearly and step by step. As a result, worship can become something performed on autopilot rather than with confidence, understanding, and intention.
This two-part course builds students’ worship competence progressively throughout the first year. Level I covers the essential rulings of purification and prayer, establishing a strong foundation. Level II builds on that foundation through more advanced and real-life prayer scenarios while introducing the Fiqh of fasting, timed to align with the school year and the approach of Ramadan.
