Fall Sunday School

A Simple, Meaningful Way to Stay Connected

The Fall Sunday School at Miftaah Juniors offers a consistent weekly space for children to grow in their understanding and love of Islam. Held once a week on Sunday evenings, the program focuses on Qur’an, the life of the Prophet ﷺ, essential Islamic manners, and foundational worship practices. It’s a great fit for families looking for balance between school-week routines and spiritual learning.

Each session is designed to be age-appropriate, purposeful, and engaging — helping children develop a stronger connection with Allah ﷻ and the Prophet ﷺ.

Children will explore the inspiring life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ through storytelling, interactive discussions, and activities. They'll learn about his character, major events of his life, and the important companions who supported him. Stories will be adapted to each age level, helping students connect personally with the Prophet ﷺ and find heroes to look up to.

Key Topics:

Pre-Islamic Arabia and events leading to the Prophet's birth.

First Revelation, Early Muslims, Migrations, Major Battles.

Important figures like Abu Bakr, Khadijah, and Ali (RA).

Lessons from the Hijrah, Isra' and Mi'raj, and Fath Makkah.

Seerah & Stories of the Sahabah
Qur'an & Qa'idah

This subject focuses on improving each student’s ability to read the Qur’an with proper pronunciation (tajweed) and fluency. Beginners will work through foundational Qa'idah lessons, while more advanced students will enhance their Qur'anic reading and understand basic tajweed rules through repeated, corrected practice.

Qa'idah basics for early readers.

Tajweed rules: Full Mouth Letters, Madd, Noon Sakin, Meem Sakin, Qalqalah.

Reading Qur'an with smoothness, accuracy, and respect.

Daily Duas & Ahadeeth

Students will learn short, essential duas for daily life and small yet powerful ahadeeth to shape their habits and character. The focus will be on both memorization and understanding simple meanings. Through practice and discussion, students will see how Islamic teachings fit into every part of their day, from waking up to traveling to eating and sleeping.

Duas: Sleep, Eating, Traveling, Masjid, Entering/Exiting Home, etc.

Ahadeeth: Cleanliness, Salah, Saying Salam, Helping Others, Truthfulness, and more.

Students will be introduced to the basics of Islamic practice, starting with personal cleanliness and extending to the pillars of Salah, fasting, charity, and Hajj. The approach will be practical and relatable, focusing on simple steps for younger students and building deeper understanding of rulings and wisdom for older students.

Purification: Wudu, Tayammum, Ghusl, understanding cleanliness.

Salah: How to pray properly, conditions of prayer, types of prayer.

Fasting: Rewards, rules of fasting, what breaks the fast, Ramadan.

Zakat: Why Muslims give charity, basic money manners.

Hajj: Story-based learning about the pilgrimage steps and meaning.

Guidelines for Graduation

The Miftaah Lite Seminary Curriculum is centered around 6 Core Subjects

Quranic studies

One of the main factors that distinguish our program is its graduation requirements. To complete the program and graduate, students must receive a passing score for each course. To complete the Miftaah Lite program, the student must complete at least 2 courses per semester for a total of 8 courses over two years.

A total of 8 course courses are needed to qualify for the Miftaah Lite certificate. After completing 8 courses of the Lite program, students are encouraged to transfer to the Associate Program located at the Miftaah Campus.

What age group is the Deen Explorers program for?

The program is suitable for children aged 5-12. We tailor activities to fit different age levels, ensuring every child can participate and learn in a way that’s fun and meaningful.

How is the program structured?

The Deen Explorers program is structured around weekly lessons focusing on key Islamic topics. Each week includes:

Interactive learning through games, discussions, and hands-on activities.

Learning tools like Kahoot!, quizzes, and group challenges to keep kids engaged.

Hands-on experiences such as simulating Wudu and Salah, and learning real-life Islamic practices.

What if my child misses a session?

We understand that sometimes things come up. If your child misses a session, we can provide a summary of the lesson and suggest activities to catch up on. We strive to ensure that every child can stay on track, even if they miss a session.

Are the programs taught in Arabic or English?

The Deen Explorers program is primarily taught in English, with Arabic terms and phrases introduced where relevant to enhance the learning experience.

Can I volunteer or help out in the program?

Are there any additional costs or fees?

The program fees cover all materials, prizes, and activities. If there are any additional costs (such as special events, field trips or activities), parents will be notified in advance.
