Abdullah Waheed
Shaykh Abdullah Waheed was born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, MI. He commenced his studies at the age of ten in Toronto, Canada, where he went to memorize the Quran. He completed the memorization of the Holy Quran by the tender age of thirteen and then went on to study in the seven-year extensive Shariah program in Toronto, Canada. Shaykh Abdullah then continued his research and studies, which took him on global journeys to Pakistan, Kuwait, England and other countries. Shaykh Abdullah specialized in the Tafseer of the Quran. Shaykh Abdullah spent years studying the details and beauty of our Holy book since understanding and mastering the language of the Holy Quran was always the primary goal. Shaykh Abdullah is a co-founder and instructor at Miftaah Institute and is also the Director of Islamic Affairs at Flint Islamic Center. Shaykh Abdullah travels across North America for khutbas, workshops, and seminars. He is known for his motivational and enthusiastic style of speaking, which leaves the audience desiring to better themselves.

Aasim Rashid
Mufti Aasim Rashid is a distinguished Muslim scholar, speaker and educator (the title ‘Mufti’ indicates his expertise and authority in Islamic law). He is devoted to the study and explanation of Islamic sacred texts and their relation to the modern context. His lectures, delivered at conferences and institutions around the world, are known to be inspiring and pertinent to the issues and pressing questions of the day. Mufti Aasim is the founder of the Al-Ihsan Educational Foundation, which has initiated the ‘Islam Unravelled’ project.

Abdul Rahman Waheed
Mufti Abdul Rahman Waheed was born and raised in Lansing, MI. As a youth, he displayed zeal and enthusiasm to involve himself in the religious sciences. At just 9 years of age, Mufti Abdul Rahman went to Toronto, Canada to pursue his dreams of becoming a Hafidh of the Holy Qur'an. Within a year, he completed the memorization of the Qur'an. He continued his 7 year Shariah program in which he studied a variety of subjects such as Hadith, Tafseer, Usool al-Hadith, logic, rhetoric by the age of 18. Thereafter, Mufti Abdul Rahman traveled to Pakistan to continue his passion to seek knowledge where he completed his 2 year Iftaa program which specializes in Islamic Jurisprudence and Law. He is legally permitted to pass a Fatwa or verdict. Mufti Abdul Rahman is serving as a principal and is a full-time instructor at Michigan Islamic Institute, the brother organization of Miftaah Institute.

Mohammad Elshinawy is a Graduate of English Literature at Brooklyn College, NYC. Yasir Fahmy
Bachelors Degree in Islamic Studies from Al-Azhar University. ‘ijazas (independent certifications) in the subjects of fiqh, hadith, aqida, usul al-fiqh, sirah, tazkiyyah, mantiq, Arabic grammar (nahu), morphology (sarf) and rhetoric (balagha). First American Azhari to ever teach in the renowned Al-Azhar Mosque. Sh Yasir serves as an Advisor on Yaqeen's Editorial Review Board.

Yasmin Mogahed
As a skilled creative writer, her literature speaks from the heart and is felt by millions around the world. After completing her graduate work, she taught Islamic Studies and served as a youth coordinator. Currently she’s a writer for the Huffington Post, a highly sought-after international speaker, and author who focuses most of her work on spiritual and personal development. She is well known for her book available worldwide, Reclaim Your Heart: Personal Insights on Breaking Free From Life’s Shackles. Her ability to relate all intervals of life to one’s relationship with the Creator is a remedy for those seeking comfort and solace in this dunya. She has the honour of being AlMaghrib Institute’s first female instructor.

Alaa Elsayed
Sheikh Alaa Elsayed was born in Cairo and lived in Egypt until he was 15 years old. During his youth, he spent his time as the goalie for the Junior National Team and moved to Toronto, Canada, in the late 1970’s. Sheikh Alaa worked as a Vice-President of Business Development for an international company, and during this time he competed and placed first in the 1992 Bermuda Triathlon. Sheikh Alaa has studied for his Bachelors in Shari’ah from the American International University, and has earned a scholarship from the Shari’ah Academy in Egypt/Florida. Sheikh Alaa has also received his ijazah of Qurʾan recitation for Ḥafṣ’an’Asim; studied comparative religion for five years through the IPCI in South Africa, and was on the board of directors of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth. Sheikh Alaa currently lives in Greater Toronto Area with his wife and three children. He is a member of the Canadian Council of Imams as well as a member of Horizon Interfaith Communication Media Council. Prior to this he was an Imam for the Muslim Council of Calgary and acted as its media spokesperson. He has hosted Vision of Islam, a weekly television show which runs throughout Alberta, Canada. He also appeared as a speaker on Islam on various television channels. Sheikh Alaa was a member of the Calgary Multi-Faith Committee, and a member of the Muslim Christian Dialogue Committee. Sheikh Alaa received the Alberta Centennial award by the Alberta Government in 2005, granted to him for his outstanding service to the Alberta community. Currently Sheikh Alaa is the Director of Religious Affairs for the Islamic Centre of Canada-ISNA. Prior to that, he was the Executive Director for the Canadian Islamic Congress. Sheikh Alaa is a favourite tutor with AlKauthar and works closely with Mercy Mission’s projects worldwide.

Ammar AlShukry
Sh. Ammar AlShukry is from Sudan via Queens New York. He holds dual Bachelor degrees in Islamic Studies and Marketing, and is currently a Director at AlMaghrib Institute and an Imam at Clear Lake Islamic Center. He is the author of the poetry collection “What the Pen Wrote: The Collected Poems of Ammar AlShukry”, and his course A Mindful Salah is currently available online at AlMaghrib.

Abdul Wahab Waheed
Mufti Abdul Wahab Waheed was born and raised in Ann Arbor, MI. He began Islamic studies at Jaamiah al-Uloom al-Islamiyyah in Canada where he became a Hafiz at the age of 11. Upon the completion of his Tahfeedhul Ul Quran, Mufti Abdul Wahab decided to continue his studies in Islamic sciences. He started his 7 year Shariah program in Toronto, Canada and went even further to pursue higher education of Hadith in Karachi, Pakistan. Mufti Abdul Wahab completed his Hadith Intensive in the renowned Islamic University founded by Sheikh Yusuf Binori RA known as Jamia Binoritown, where he had the fortune of studying under teachers who had received their Ijaazat from Al- Azhar, Madina Univsirty, and Ummul Qura. Upon graduation, Mufti Abdul Wahab wanted to pursue his passion in understanding and education in the field of Islamic Jurisprudence and Law.

Ali Hofioni
Imam Ali Hofioni is currently serving the GTA community as an Imam, instructor, director and counselor at Ummah Nabawiah Masjid. He received numerous ijazah of transmission in all six famously authentic books of hadith from his teachers.

Khalid Latif
Imam Khalid Latif is the University Chaplain for New York University and Executive Director of the Islamic Center at NYU. He was appointed the first Muslim chaplain at NYU in 2005. He was also appointed the first Muslim chaplain at Princeton University in 2006. Spending a year commuting between these two excellent institutions, he finally decided to commit full-time to New York University's Islamic Center where his position was officially institutionalized in the spring of 2007. Under his leadership, the Islamic Center at NYU became the first ever established Muslim student center at an institution of higher education in the United States.

Since 2005, Shaykh Yusuf Badat is serving as a teacher for Arabic, Islamic Studies, Quranic Studies and World Religions at the Islamic Foundation School. Shaykh Yusuf Badat is also the Imam and ‘Director of Religious Affairs’ at the Islamic Foundation of Toronto. The speakers were all really good and knew what they were talking about. They made it interactive and fun so they made sure they had our attention the entire time.
I enjoyed the topics discussed they all had the central theme of love but addressed them in different ways.
